Fall Trash Bash! 9/11

Please mark your calendars to join us for the Fall Trash bash being held 9/11 at 9:15 a.m.

Meet in the carpool lane at Hidden Lakes. Bring your own gloves. Wear your activity uniforms (Pack t-shirt) and hats.

We, as a Pack, have adopted Preston Road from Shady Grove to Davis and, as a courtesy to our school, we always clean up the grounds of Hidden Lakes Elementary School too.

At 11 am, there will be a lunch provided for all participants in the Pavilion at Bear Creek Park.

We WILL need a volunteer to head up this effort. The only requirements for this are to be at Bear Creek Park at 9am to check us in, get the trash bags and safety vests. Then you will take attendance on that sheet. We need an attendance sheet for us as well. Then you will turn in the sheet back at the pavilion in Bear Creek Park after we’re done. At that time, you can grab any of the handouts and goodies for each of the Scout attendees to distribute at the next pack meeting.

It’d be great to get a group photo, too, for the website if we had a parent willing to do that (hint, hint).

Opening Day for Sales of the New 2010 BSA Coin

The weaving of thoughts, cultures, and ideas into one American fabric is stamped into our national identity – E Pluribus Unum, “Out of Many, One.”

In 2010, the United States Mint will inscribe that phrase onto a new commemorative coin that honors the centennial of the Boy Scouts of America. Beginning TODAY, March 23, the United States Mint will make available for sale 350,000 high quality, modern issue, commemorative silver dollar coins.

Like the inscription on the coin, the BSA gathers together youth from all backgrounds. So, it is fitting that the surcharges from the sale of each coin are authorized for use to benefit the BSA National Foundation in its efforts to bring Scouting to underserved communities. Surcharges for the coin sales may generate up to $3.5 million for this very worthy cause. For the first thirty days the proof coin will be offered at $39.95 and the uncirculated coin will be offered at $33.95, after which the prices will be $43.95 and $35.95, respectively.

Judge William S. Sessions, former Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Distinguished Eagle Scout, is the Honorary Chairman of the BSA’s initiative to promote the Boy Scouts of America Centennial Silver Dollar. Judge Sessions’ son Congressman Pete Sessions of Dallas, Texas, also a Distinguished Eagle Scout, introduced and championed the legislation that authorized the BSA to be one of the two commemorative coins produced by the United States Mint in 2010.

The International Space Station Comes Together!

If you and your Scout are working on anything with astronomy, this is a fun on-line demonstration to view. Make note that there are MANY opportunities to see this amazing contraption orbiting the Earth-the International Space Station (ISS). US Air Force Band, March 29, 7pm

The United States Air Force Academy Band is coming to Fort Worth on March 29th to perform a free concert at 7:00 pm at Bass Performance Hall. We would like your Boy Scouts to attend our concert to get them even more excited about being American citizens and to expose them to an Air Force activity that may pique their interest in the Air Force

Academy.

The Boy Scouts will surely enjoy the experience while satisfying an “outing” requirement for Second Class and the Music Merit Badge requirement 3.a. “Attend a live performance.”

We want to encourage all boys and leaders to wear Boy Scout uniforms to the concert. Free tickets are available at the Bass Hall Box Office or send a self-addressed-stamped-envelope to PAFW, ATTN: Ticket office, 330 E 4^th St, Fort Worth TX 76102.

Owl Prowl Night Hike, March 20, 7pm

See owls up close during an hour-long night hike! Follow a fearless trail guide through the sounds of hooting owls and howling coyotes.

GOD & ME

Paul Devaul, Laura Brown, and Brad Conlon are leading the enriching multi-day series “God and Me” — open to Tigers, Wolves and Bears.

The GOD and Me curriculum is for boys interested in earning their religious knots by learning about Creation, God’s Love and His Gift to the World, Prayer, and what it means to be a “good shepherd”.

More information to follow including instructions on how to sign up, what is required, and dates. The cost will be $3.50 per scout for the workbook.

Is it in you??? We need a few bold parents who love kids, love what scouting means, and are willing to be LEADERS OF THE PACK. Cubmaster and Assistant Cubmaster positions need to be filled to keep our pack STRONG.

As April’s time as our fearless leader draws to a close, words can’t say enough — we THANK HER for her devotion, dedication, and inspiration to our pack! She embodies the highest principles of DUTY to GOD, and DUTY to COUNTRY. Whether leading the pack in a silly song, organizing a meeting or overnight gathering, or softly telling an emotion-filled story by a crackling fire, April has been SO MANY things to our young men. April, you will be GREATLY MISSED !!!
